Dosa / Lentil pancake
തട്ടിലെ കുട്ടി ദോശ

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thattile Kutti Dosa was one of the star characters in this hit malayalam movie. Hats off to the idea.

Here is how to make it.

For Batter:

Urad dal - 1 cup (100 g)
Idli rice - 1 1/2 cups (150 g)
Long grain rice - 1/2 cup (50 g)
Cooked rice - one handful
Salt to taste
Ghee / oil for frying
Water for grinding

Method:

  • Wash and soak urad dal and rice separately for 6 - 7 hours.
  • Grind the urad dal to a fine paste in a blender, pour to a bowl. Now grind the soaked raw rice and cooked rice to a fine paste. Add little water while grinding if the batter sticks to the bottom of the blender bowl.
  • Remove and mix with dal paste. Add salt to taste.
  • Cover and keep aside for 4 -5 hours in a warm humid room.
  • To make dosa, heat dosa pan. Pour 1/2 ladleful of batter and spread using the back of the ladle to make small thick dosas.
  • Sprinkle ghee / oil on top the dosas. Cook for 2 minutes on a medium heat. Turn over and cook both sides till golden color. Serve with garlic chutney / sambar.

Recipe for garlic chutney to follow soon.
